2010/11 7-a-side football team had a great start to the school year with good victories over teams from Carnane, Bohermore, Caherconlish and Bilboa N.S.s With a strong panel of 13 players to choose from we were delighted to emerge group winners and so qualifying for a coveted place in the A final to be held in the Gaelic Grounds on Wednesday, 3rd November, 2010. Our opponents were to be the boys and girls from nearby Garrydoolis N.S. There was great excitement in the lead up to the match and extra coaching sessions were led by John O'Dea and Tommy Kenny of Kilteely Dromkeen GAA Club. Our boys and girl! played with great determination and skill and proved that their training and hunger for victory could bring home the silverware. The final score was Cloverfield NS 7-5; Garrydoolis NS 3-3. Captain Stephen O'Dea accepted the O'Dwyer Oil Perpetual Cup on behalf of the team and it now sits proudly in Cloverfield NS. Team members Jamie McCarthy and Rian O'Dea were both selected to represent East Limerick on the Sarsfield Cup football team of 2010. The future is indeed looking bright for football in Cloverfield NS and in Kilteely Dromkeen GAA and undoubtedly these young players will make their way to Páirc na nGael again in the near future!

Spikeball: This adapted volleyball game was introduced in Cloverfield N.S. during 2007 and quickly became a favourite with both girls and boys.Pupils from 3rd to 6th classes have been learning the game each year. The Volleyball Association of Ireland's Ciara Buckley is the Munster co-ordinator of competions and blitzes each year and does a fantastic job. We, in Cloverfield NS, prepare for the annual competitions held in Villiers in Limerick each January and recently entered a Boys and Mixed team. Both teams did very well with the Mixed team reaching the quarter finals and the Boys team being narrowly beatn in the final. We look forward to playing in the blitzes to be held later in the school year.

Indoor hurling for pupils from 4th class down is a big favourite each year. Our panel of 7 boys and 1 girl recently competed in the Cumann na mBunscol competition held in the Millennium Centre, Caheconlish. Our team including Brian O'Grady, Eoghan O'Dea, Robbie Holmes, Nicole Kenny, Edward English, Shane Dwane, Josh Sheehan and Killian Ryan beat those from Murroe and Knockea NSs and went on to compete in the second round of the competition which was also played in Caherconlish. Here the team beat that from Killinure NS and drew against the team from Doon NS. The final match against Lisnagry NS was the decider. Unfortunately our very determined young players were denied a place in the County Finals but can be very proud of themselves for finishing as runners-up in a a very keenly contested competition.

Our soccer players look forward to once again taking part in the FAI soccer competition to be held in the coming months.
